I was recently diagnosed with gestational diabetes (pregnancy-induced diabetes) and was less-than-happy to learn I would be pricking my fingers 6 times a day. But this meter is simple to use, and by my 4th prick, I actually found myself thinking this was "kinda fun." It's no party, but this meter is so extremely simple and low-hassle to use that it really is no big deal. It doesn't take much blood at all to activate the reader. I recommend the One Touch Ultra 2!

REALLY AWFUL - Jeff S - Massachusetts
LCD barely readable, very dark, back light is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY if you want to be able to read it (when compared to my Bayer Contour). As others have stated no control solution supplied. I got this as a free meter when my health insurance company said they were no longer going to pay for the Bayer Contour test strips (only a few dollars difference). Now I know why it was free. I did a side by side test of both my meters at the same time, the OneTouch Ultra2 was 30 points higher. How is that possible, 150 vs 180? Cant make a controlled test, because there is no test solution, oh I said that already. The amount of blood the test strip needs is ridiculous. br /I had two choices of Free meters and chose this one because the "Free Meter company" which I guess is not OneTouch said the computer cable would come with it. Now when I called the rep said "no that was not correct." My other choice was the Accu-Check Aviva. So I will now try that one. I loved my contour, always reliable and VERY easy to read.br /br /If the Accu-Check does not work out, I am going to give my health insurance a piece of my mind. The difference in price for the test strips is negligible. Especially considering what I am paying for a premium.

Caution! Alcohol content - peony -
I was really curious after reading the customer review for this item, and decided to buy it. It arrived incredibly quickly, and I wasted no time to give it a try. It was only after I took a shot that I got a strange buzz, the kind you can only get from... alcohol! Sure enough, it was second on the list of ingredients (after water). I am a sober alcoholic, so I have a high tolerance for alcohol but I definitely felt it. The product might be effective - I don't know because I decided not to use it after that, but the buzz didn't wear off for a good hour or so. So if you decide to give it a try, be aware and prepared.

I am very impressed with this organizer. Here is how I am using it:br /br /* Syringes (main compartment: floating loose in pocket)br /* My two vials of medicine (small compartment: held in small elastic straps)br /* Lancets (main compartment: in zippered, clear pocket)br /* Finger pricker (main compartment: in large elastic strap)br /* Blood glucose meter (main compartment: in large elastic strap)br /* Alcohol wipes (main compartment: in zippered, black pocket)br /br /What it doesn't securely hold is the small film-canister-like container of glucose test strips, as there are only two larger elastic straps (they're in the main compartment), and I've already used them for the meter and finger pricker. There are two other small elastic straps (in the small compartment), but I'm not using them, and they're too small for the test strips container.br /br /Still, I am very impressed by this case.br /br /Also, it has a belt loop (as in, take off your belt, work it through the loop, and put your belt back on) and a cold pack (for the small compartment).br /br /Based on what I see in this case, MEDport makes good stuff!

still in search of the perfect diabetes travel kit - Kerrie Kaspar - WA, USA
I am a type I diabetic, so I need to carry all of my medications with me at all times. The medport case is alright. What i like: it has an ice pack cooling compartment. It has an if found, please contact area where you can put your contact info (although I think this should be on the outside of the case). It is small enough to fit in my medium-sized purse. Don't like: The bands that are suppose to hold insulin/test trip bottles are not flexible enough-it is difficult to get them in and out, so I don't use them. One side has a large, clear, plastic pocket--It would be more convenient if this was split up into at least 2 different pockets. Last, and most importantly-there is no elastic to hold my blood glucose meter in place. There is a pocket where it fits, but I test like 10 times/day, so I do not want to have to pull it in and out of there all the time. Additionally, the case is not deep enough...every time I unzip it, my meter and test strips and lancet device flying all over the place--kinda a pain. I am still on the look-out for a perfect travel case. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know!br /br /KKbr /br /
